No need to by a sat nav!

This app is amazing. I use it all the time and it never fails me!

Very nice I like this apps sat Nav

Very good apps

Mixed feeling

Used it for my holiday - UK version works geat, just lacks some POI (cant find Buckingham Palace), but Spain version is huge dissapointment: in Lanzarote navigation to specifc address doesnt work without internet connection and it cannot navigate to the airport (No route planned) Interface is realy nice, just some smalls things could be improved: 1. When you want to access menu from map screen, button is very small and located on bottom left - not easy to press while driving. 2. When you access an address from the Navigate -> Favourites (which can be renamed - very usefull) it shows unnessecary menu screen with map and button "Route here". It would be better to navigate directly. Overall, UK version is perfect free alternative, but would not trust Spannish for next trip.

Hard to believe its a free app

It allows you to search by the cross streets and really, as a free app, it is very decent! I dont find the US one works as good tho.

Worthless for England

Couldnt find The Mall in London and several other known addresses in London and Suffolk. Crap.

Cant search for Northern Ireland places?

Im giving it two stars since its free, but a lot of us travel both north and south, and there appears to be no way for search for places or postal codes (even the second largest city in Ireland, Belfast!) in Northern Ireland. And yes, Ive tried both the UK and Republic of Ireland search. From the Navfree support forums, this seems to be an ongoing problem, with questions about it from over a year ago. Also, the search server for Ireland seems to be down a lot (has it ever actually worked?) - you cant search for a particular address when its down. You can still view towns, but try planning a route between two houses in Dublin without address search. It looks like Ill have just to pay $85-$90 for the Navigon or TomTom app.

This is nice who has a 3ds

Brilliant UK Navigation

Used this on a recent trip to UK. 30 miles from destination, we realized our rental car had GPS, so we compared the two. The NavFree app suggested a faster, less congested route and actually found the (pretty obscure) address we entered. The in-car (big company) GPS system suggested a less easy route and told us to get out and walk half a mile across a ploughed field! So the NavFree app won hands-down. This app has voice directions in driving mode, turn-by-turn directions and excellent views of the junctions at each point. I was impressed that there was so much detail available on a smallish screen like the iPod Touch (4G). I was using the iPod Touch 4G with the Bad Elf GPS add-on device, which is way cheaper than a Garmin or TomTom solution - plus you dont have to pay for map updates every year, with the NavFree application(!). The Bad Elf device took a couple of minutes to lock onto the satellite and then operated fast and seamlessly with this app. I have also used the US version of this app for walking directions in the USA (again on a iPod Touch with the Bad Elf device) - it works great when youre lost in a big city. I did not use the UK version for this purpose, but Id expect it to be equally good, as the driving directions work the same for both countries. Overall: Id highly recommend this app. It is the BEST nav app - the constant updates keep the maps aware of new developments and roads. The voice navigation is helpful, telling you which turn to take. The maps are clear, even on a smallish screen like the iPod 4G (or iPhone 4). Great app.

UK app works!

Used this app for a trip to Scotland in September 2012. Traveled almost 1800 miles around the entire country, in major cities (Glasgow, Edinburgh) and small towns. It got us where we we going, down to the exact address 97% of the time and to a block from the address 100% of the time. There were several minor issues with the voice directions. First, it sometimes does not indicate the proper exit from roundabouts so you need to look at the screen and roadsigns to verify which exit to take. This happens about 15% of the time so it is a minor annoyance. Second, some one way streets are not correctly noted in the major cities and the navigation directs you the wrong way. Again, you should be watching street signs anyway so that was only a minor problem which only happened twice on our trip. The points of interest were limited, but the ones that were included were generally accurate. The information on safety cameras (speed cameras) was useful and only one time did I encounter a speed camera that was not included (a mobile one). But most of the time there was no camera when the app warned of one, which probably indicates that a user reported a temporary camera at some point. I recommend you use this app on an ipad since the iphone screen size is limited. I used a mount that held the ipad and was inserted into the cup holder (bought at online retailer whos name starts with an "A" and ends with a "m"). Also recommend that you enter addresses using the post code, this allows the app to direct you to the exact house or business with only entering a 6 digit combination of letters and numbers.

Best Tool for UK Travel

Used NAVFREE UK & ROI last year (2012) while i travelled Peak District, Lake District, and went across Yorkshire Dales North Yorkshire. Most of the time through small unnamed back road close to the C2C walkway. It was the first time I used this app. I was not sure how accurate ad reliable it was, so I also got a GPS (sat nav) from car rental too. NAVFREE proved to be more useful, providing better route options, and bigger screen (on iPad). Im going to UK again this summer. And this time Ill use NAVFREE, and save GPS rental money for more English Heritage visits.

Hate it

I HATE THAT APP… I cannot use it, I cannot exclude from my apps, I cannot do anything with this...

Crashes on ipad air

Works great and I love except for some reason the uk and france versions crash on my ipad air but work on my iphone 5

mr

Used to be a great app but Google Search no longer works on iPhone/ipad. Also cannot restore purchases.

Great App

lovely app

Best App to get around UK

This app saved us time and never got us lost. Recommend buying the camera package as they are everywhere in UK . This is such a valuable app I put it in my top three.

Why the change?

Version 3.1.8 is certainly less capability than the previous version. The previous version would allow access to Contacts. That made it easy to use. Programmers: please revert to older version.

No coordinates search, no good

A sat-nav without the option to use coordinates is like a smartphone without a SIM. The app works and it may look good, but it is rubbish at getting you places. Especially in countries like Ireland, where they have no post codes or house numbers. Businesses must use coordinates on their website for customers to find them. Not with Navmii sat-nav they wont.

Works great!

Pretty impressive free product!

Very nearly perfect

On a 5-day road trip around the UK, a good chunk of it in areas with little to no phone signal, this app steered me from one spot to the next with plenty of advance warning for turns and speedy recalculating when I went off track. The only bobble was when it sent me to an address about 500 feet from my actual destination, because the two locations had similar names. Im buying the US map right away.

Must-Have App for UK Driving

I just used this app for the past three days in England and Wales and it was a lifesaver. My first night, I tried using just printed out step-by-step directions from Google (to avoid roaming charges) and it was a nightmare trying to keep track of 25+ roundabouts. If its your first time driving in the UK, save yourself from a potential day of misery and get this! Seriously, dont try navigating by maps unless you have military training or something. When I switched to this on day 2, it was a huge relief. Navigating from Heathrow to the Harry Potter studio, then on to Oxford and ultimately Cardiff was seamless. The apps perspective layout is simple and felt intuitive. It showed not only directions, but all the twists and turns of the road, which was reassuring in more rural areas where signage was sparse. The voice navigation is set up well: next-step call outs at .5 miles and 400 yards, then a repeat when you get to the action needed (e.g. at the roundabout, take the second exit). I had my AT&T iPhone settings as cellular data enabled, but data roaming turned off. With those settings, the app tracked me perfectly. We searched for both major places and tiny towns, and the app found them and navigated a route each time. There were maybe two small hiccups (e.g. diverting from a major road into a roundabout, only to be sent back onto the major road) but barely worth mentioning, as the app figured it out quickly. I took the wrong direction a few times and the app correctly recalculated my route. Used it for walking in London too and it was spot on.
